What connecting your mailbox actually does (and what it does not)
We ask for mailbox access. That deserves a straight answer: optional, reversible, for attaching sales mail to the right deal — not for sending behind your back.
Sailsy Team
Product & Engineering
If a product asks to connect your mailbox, and the marketing site cannot explain why in one screen, do not connect it.
Here is Sailsy's version, without a trust-and-safety brochure.
What it is for
So a reply lands on the contact and the deal you are actually working. So the people, the cold and warm leads and the threads already in your inbox arrive in the CRM without you copy-pasting them at 11pm. So Sailsy can draft a follow-up in your voice, in your mailbox — and wait.
Gmail and Outlook are both first-class here. Whichever you already live in is the one Sailsy works from.
For Gmail, the Google user data we use for that follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use. We are not in the business of training a public model on your customers' inboxes.
What it is not for
It is not required to use Sailsy. The CRM, the website profile, the pipeline — those work without a mailbox. It also does not ask you to change how you sell: no new stages to learn, no fields to fill in for the system's benefit.
It is not a licence to send. Suggests and drafts. You approve and send. If we ever blur that line, we have broken the product.
It is not permanent. Settings, disconnect, done. We would rather lose the convenience than keep a mailbox you no longer want attached.
Why we still ask
Because founder sales happens in email whether the CRM knows or not. A sales manager who cannot see the thread is guessing. A sales manager who sends without you is a liability.
Optional, visible, reversible. That is the whole design.
